Back in the 60s Panorama did a spoof report that spaghetti grew on trees, a lot of people believed it, it was that exotic

I used to come in from the pub with some Chinky and would offer my mum a spare rib !! I don't want that foreign muck she replied !!

Re: Len Goodman
Len - your grandad was right, frozen pizza is muck.

Re: Len Goodman
As my parents are from Spain/Portugal I used to regularly take a packed lunch to school of chorizo sandwiches and all the other kids used to take the piss and say "What is that smelly dago food you're eating? It fucking stinks!" This was the early 80's.

Now if course you find chorizo in everything even in meals where it doesn't even belong!

I remember my granddad describing frozen pizza as"foreign muck".

Seems ridiculous now, but it was seen as quite EXOTIC in our gaff in the late 70s.

How about everyone stop listening to the loons on all sides and move on. They are not going to hang Len for this so we don't need to get on the hysterical reactions from disgusted in Tunbridge Wells.

Let if blow over.

My Nan didn't like Spaghetti as it was funny foreign stuff. Very common attitude, let alone curries.

"My grandad refused to eat pasta or rice because it was 'foreign muck'."

Haha... one of my grandparents was the same.

Have also met old folk who refuse point blank to eat garlic or chilli, or any sort of fruit (except apples, which old people seem to insist on cooking)

El Scorchio 2:50 Mon Jun 6
Re: Len Goodman
It probably wasn't wise of him to say that, but FFS he's a 78 year old man recounting a memory, on the spot on live TV about a woman who probably died 40-50 years ago. Some common sense is due here. It's not like he said he thought it was foreign muck himself. And people did have those attitudes. My grandad refused to eat pasta or rice because it was 'foreign muck'. Attitudes and tastes change over time and that must be accounted for.

It's just low hanging fruit for people wanting an opportunity to announce to everyone on social media how righteous and better than everyone else they are. (By picking on a pensioner. Bravo)

Interestingly, I'd refuse coronation chicken and call it muck because I detest mayonnaise, rather than curry.

We should do without laws and courts and just have trial by Twitter.

My parents thought that food outside of Greater London was muck let alone anything from abroad.

Re: Len Goodman
He told the truth. Back in the 60's alot of people probably thought indian food was muck. If people had an ounce of common sense they would see it is a success story of diversity and look how popular curry is now in UK.

But let the old handbag mob get offended. I hope the BBC don;t react to this but I;m sure they will.

Re: Len Goodman
Too many idiots are very happy to act offended by someone telling the truth. My mum thought curry was foreign muck too but then, I doubt she ever tried a curry like Len Goodman's mum.

Truth is that someone will always see the bad in anything said in public. Not because they are shocked but because they cannot wait to signal their own virtuous life...

Re: Len Goodman
Had absolutely no idea who this bloke was til I saw a load of people with Ukraine and rainbow flag filters going mental about what he said on a couple of local papers I follow on Facebook.

No one is REALLY offended by anything he's said, performative offence taking is just an easy way for some folk to gain social points.

Given his job he's probably used to dealing with people like this and as such isn't bothered

It's important to remember that the theatrics of deMOCKracy which are designed to divide and rule the population are a very different beast from genuine democracy which is the result of dialogue and consideration - reaching a consensus for the best result.

Something which rubber necking at the knee jerk posts on social media can't ever hope to accomplish.

Thank you

On the other had back in the day a man of Johnson's low morals wouldn't have been allowed next or near Queen Elizabeth and in fact his personal life (never mind his employment record) would have excluded him from holding any position of responsibility.

Wokeness and PC are not for the older generation. It’s something the young have created as yet another way of getting the attention they crave.
Let them get on with it and settle back and watch a Bernard Manning DVD.
